The social media campaign I created, Move Happy Louisiana, educates the public on safety issues relating to biking, walking and running in Louisiana. Throughout the campaign, I have done the following listed below.

  • Curated news centering around these biking and running that has engaged 12,000 people on social media.

  • Constructed plans to add sidewalks, bike paths and crosswalks across Baton Rouge.

  • Helped plan the Easy Streets initiative at LSU, part of the campus’ 2003 Master Plan

  • Promoted the addition of bike paths to the university’s campus on major roadways such as Dalrymple Drive.

  • Played an active role in downtown Baton Rouge’s Government Street repairs where I identified the Mid City area’s shortfalls and provided input on changing the street to be reduced from four lanes to two, in order to provide bike paths

SOCIAL MEDIA ADVOCACY

The goal of the Move Happy Louisiana campaign was to engage Louisianans and to help them learn the rules of the road. On each platform I led the audience toward this goal to make Louisiana a safer community for all modes of transit.

Move Happy Louisiana blog posts titled "Telling Louisiana's Story" highlighted community leaders for their work promoting good cycling or pedestrian habits.
